CR 1000 TXT pickup — Pics & Thoughts
I recently got hold of a pair of the ‘new retro’ CR 1000 TXT (TXT meaning Textile) in Faux Indigo/Denim Glow/Flash Red/White /Black, so here are some thoughts and photos. Read on…
The 1000 is a great, casual sneaker ideal for summers and generally loafing around in ; it’s a straightforward retrobok from the ground up, with its’ zig-zagged speed lacing one notable feature. The other notable feature — and one for true Reebok heads — are the sidestripes which extend over the upper and meet the top of the outsole, something only seen on a few revered runners from the mid 80’s (notably most of the DL series, the super-rare Paris Racer and the beautiful CL 1400)
Other than that, the mid and outsole are the familiar straight from the Classic Leather (or Phase II minus the embellishments) and the heel tab has a slightly tall appearance which is a unique touch to this shoe. And of course, the stitched shoe identifier is always a favourite ;
In wearing, the 1000 does the job nicely with a soft, well-padded feel — the only minor downside to this is the fairly chunky ankle collar/rear section which won’t allow a pair of skinny jeans to sit neatly on (so it’s shorts, joggers or baggies for these really).
The colourways currently available are perfectly chosen, all with a light upper mesh and primary colour pops: this is a fun shoe after all.

Not much more to say about the CR 1000, other than it’s a perfect example of a ‘new retro’ in both design and quality (that much cannot be said about the ERS 1500), as well as a great ‘entry point’ shoe into classic Reebok footwear, it appears to be priced astutely too.
