Instapump Fury OG BI

Decorative and beautiful results on these Fury OG’s, featuring a mesh toe box, richly patterned upper and speckled midsole section.

From what I can see, these appear to only be available at Japans’ Atmos and Mita stores currently, but I believe Reebok Japan may stock them shortly.

LX 8500 — New colourways coming soon at Atmos, Japan

Whether Reebok Classics have done a bang-up job here or not is upto you: Do these new LX 8500 colourways elicit excitement and interest, or do they simply get ignored and passed-by?

It’s a tricky one because on the one hand sure, they’re not eye-popping colourways and to the ordinary person on the street they’re not even going to notice the difference between these and the Athletic Navy/Railroad Grey retros from last year (remember that only the Railroad Grey/Athletic Navy – in that order – was the OG colourway).

On the other hand: well this is the LX 8500: a (now vintage) luxury running shoe from 1985. It doesn’t need fluorescent colourways, mesh uppers or coloured midsoles to bring it up-to-date: that would miss the point entirely.

Another point to mention is that the lighter of the pair (Graphite/Steel/Weathered White) at the top of the page are strikingly similar to the mid-2000’s retros of the LX — of which there were many colourways, mainly available in Asia if I remember correctly.

Available to pre-order from the Atmos site, their website suggests they will be available on 18th July. More images after the jump—BokOne Read the rest of this entry

Retrobok Retrospective — Alien Stomper Field Guide

A little re-highlighting of one of Retroboks‘ most extensive Field-Guides (although to be honest they’re all pretty extensive). And probably the only place on the internet featuring 4 decades of Alien Stomper-porn. —BokOne

Insta Pump Fury – Atmos X Jun Watanabe X Reebok

Asia appears to be going crazy for the Insta Pump Fury right now (whilst those of us in the cold wet UK suffer the weather, and only a handful of colourways because of that ) and these are right off the scale: only Japan could produce makeups this fantastical 😀 Available for pre-order from  Japanese store ZOZO. Insta Pump Fury – Atmos x Reebok (Snake/British Camo)

It’d be a fair criticism of Retrobok for not covering other classic Boks’ as much as the usual runners. Often I’m not sure myself where to draw the line: but anything originating pre-2000, or emulating classics since then, or indeed featuring classic tech such as Hexalite should be covered here, and Reeboks’ unique Insta Pump has been sorely overlooked here on Retrobok.   Read the rest of this entry
