Club C 85 ELM “Element Pack”

reebok-club-c-85-elm-pack-1-696x464Firstly, apologies for lack of activity on Retrobok – I’ve recently relocated to Tokyo so will attempt to increase activity over the coming few months, possibly with a little more Asian markt insight.

There have been quite a few Club C 85 makeups released over the last few months; testament to the shoes’ timelessness, clean lines and the supple comfort of a Terrycloth lining. I have a few pairs and they’re regular go-to’s for urban/daily wear.

The ‘Element Pack’ (aka ELM) includes 3 subtle tonal pastel makeups with the 3 colourways being titled ‘Seaside Grey’, ‘Porcelain Pink’ and ‘Fresh Blue’ and are currently available from stores such as Overkill (Germany), Titolo (Switzerland), and End (UK / Australia and – yes, US friends, the USA!). -BokOne

Article: Adidas’ Secret Weapon for the U.S. Footwear Market Is Actually Reebok

Fascinating article over on Hypebeast about Reeboks acquisition by Adidas, and its various ups and downs since. Some big statements in here which I certainly don’t wish to cast doubt on, but offer food for thought – and some tightly crossed fingers for the future of Reebok Classics output.

Reebok is a company with a very rich heritage in sports like basketball, football, baseball and tennis. They have a back catalog of classic sneakers second to only Nike …

Also pleased to note that the article was written by Scott at DeFY New York – a goldmine of a sneaker site which contains many retrobok-related treasures. Anyway, hit the link and read on. Interesting stuff.

GL 6000 CH — Black/Paperwhite/Antique Copper: Pickup, Macro pics and a little fabric history

The most recent addition to my GL 6000 collection is possibly my favourite to date as well. This colourway seems to tick so many personal boxes: muted Black/Grey upper, contemporary colour for the flexwave and midsole blockouts, and… the gold embroidered lettering…mmmmm. Read on for more photos and history…  Read the rest of this entry

Nice Kicks — A “Sneak Peek” Inside Sneaker Grandpa’s Shoe Rooms

This interview with ‘Sneaker Grandpa’ makes me quite emotional ; a true sneakerhead who’s not interested in following the overtrodden Nike/Jordan path, and chooses his own: namely, quality collabs (New Balance and Reeboks are his preference).

He talks us through his enviable (and mint) collection of 25th Anniversary Classic Leathers, as well as a few others, and what they each mean to him.

“A lot of people show us the same stuff over and over again but, I definitely wanted this season to be full of stuff we just haven’t seen before, and you definitely did that…” Wonderful stuff. —BokOne

CR 1000 TXT pickup — Pics & Thoughts

I recently got hold of a pair of the ‘new retro’ CR 1000 TXT (TXT meaning Textile) in Faux Indigo/Denim Glow/Flash Red/White /Black, so here are some thoughts and photos. Read on… Read the rest of this entry

Garbstore X Reebok Classics — Ventilator Supreme

Ventilator pickup — Chalk/Snowy Grey/Team Purple/Energy Blue

The 1990 Ventilator is currently celebrating it’s 25th anniversary and there is a huge selection of anniversary colourways hitting the stores + streets right now, and Reebok Classics recently released the 2nd of 3 colourways from the 2015 Ventilator Vintage Pack, this time in Chalk/Snowy Grey/Team Purple/Energy Blue. Read on for more, and for macro pics.

Fitness Heritage Classics Pack

Polish sneaker blog Tenisufki yesterday posted an article about the Reebok Fitness Heritage Classics pack showing 4 classic shoes. Now this pack was released back in July featuring 6 shoes – so I’m not going to make any guesses about this until I see further information. But for now, check out these fresh fresh fresh! promo pics 😀 —BokOne  Read the rest of this entry

Thanks, Reebok!

A slightly overdue thanks to Reebok for sending me a pair of Shaq Attaqs and Classic Whites pack Twilight Zones as a thanks to Retrobok. Makes me feel incredibly proud that Reebok have been using Retrobok as a resource, and for reference. It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t thank the likes of David Foster, David Gumbley, DefyNewYork, Dixy, Alex Schuh, Russel Hall and all Retroboks‘ regular contributors and visitors too. Retrobok will continue apace, and I still aim that the site can become THE place people visit first for the latest classic Reebok news. I also hope to have some very special features here soon…. watch this space, and thanks again 🙂 —BokOne

CL + CL Mid Lux Keith Haring

These eye-popping shoes, currently available at luxury site Luisaviaroma are clearly inspired by the popular Jeremy Scott x Adidas collabs over the last few years. Whether Reebok are doing a good thing with these is a matter of personal taste. Each shoe image links directly out. ~BokOne

Additional – There are a few more Keith Haring x Reeboks out there, as this Tumblr image shows —

ERS 1500 – Black/Blue/Steel/Aubergine/Pink

The 2nd ERS 1500 colourway to break cover at Titolo, I’ve not yet seen them anywhere else (if you have, please let me know in the comments). These are really bad ass design, and completely in the Retrobok spirit – congratulations to Reebok for doing this. However, and I hate to say this, but I’m not totally convinced about the finish quality on these. The rear midsole in particular reminds me of the Reebok World Mile : itself a budget shoe, and the rubber-cleated sole is a curious design choice for what is – at least in spirit – a road/track runner. Either way, I’m looking forward to getting my hands on a pair and seeing them in the flesh. Remember there is a second colourway available too!

World Best (2011 retro) — Unboxing

Another first for Retrobok — following yesterdays’ interview with the legendary David Foster — I thought it would be fun to do an ‘unboxing’ (something fashionable and admittedly more logical on Tech websites).

My latest purchase was a pair of the 2011 retro of the 1987 ‘World Best’, and whilst not a particularly special colourway they are strikingly similiar to my first Reeboks – the 1985 Rapide – which was also in grey/black/red. Unboxing maybe a bit of an overstatement for ‘a pair of shoes in a box’, but it provides an excuse to take some macro pictures and enjoy the design details that the naked eye somehow doesn’t take in.

OG 1986 London Runners on eBay

These original ’86 London Runners were spotted on eBay (thanks once again to DIXY) and reveal some interesting details. The contrasting Red and Blue heel tabs are  something pretty unique and perhaps, dare I say it – flashy, and a Vibram-branded sole which has a parallel with the 1986 GL6000‘s Goodyear-branded soles. It’s nice to have a bit of light shed on a forgotten shoe. Currently taking bids on eBAY UK.

More pics after the jump. ~BokOne

GL6000 – Sample – Black/White/Tin Grey

Another thanks to DIXY – our resident eBay researcher 😉 for spotting these, with yellow sample tags over on eBay. Close examination only reveals JUNE marked on one of the tags – and whilst the colourway isn’t really doing a lot for me personally, it’s yet another of the 20+ or so GL6000 re-issued colourways to look out for. More pictures after the jump.
